Wrong view of dates from Word document

Hi,
I edited a document in Word, defining Date as : SaveDate, format dd MMMM yyyy, by Moon-Related\Islamic Calendar, in order to achieve Jewish format of date, which changes on saving the document.
This done by clicking on Word on Insert->Date and Time Field. Then selecting the date and choosing SaveDate, format and Islamic Calendar, by code: SAVEDATE @ “dd MMMM yyyy” \h . File is attached.

On viewer of Doconut(https://net47-mvc.doconut.com/), I get Christian Date. On opening the document on Word, I get the Jewish date in Hebrew.
If I define the date on Word the same, only as Date instead of SaveDate, I get the right date.
Please check presentations of calculated dates on Word document due to what I described.
Thanks!!
P.S. I rewritten my post.

@AyeletChen,

Thank you for rewriting the post and for attaching the sample file—those details are very helpful.

To make sure we investigate on exactly the same setup, could you confirm a couple of points?

  1. Which .NET target are you compiling against? (e.g., .NET Framework 4.x, .NET Standard/Core, .NET 6 or later)
  2. Which Doconut build are you running?
  3. Could you please send a snippet of the code with your WordConfig configuration?
    Our development team is already working on reproducing the issue in this case.

Our development team is already working on this case. Thanks for your help!

Hi,
Thank you for your quick response.
Our viewer is compiling against NET Framework 4.7.
It is a MVC Project, in which we use Doconut version 1.0.5.1.
WordConfi configuration : new WordConfig { ConvertPdf = true, DocumentCulture = “he-IL” };
Thanks in advance!

@AyeletChen,

Thank you for your message and for sharing the details of your setup.

We recommend updating to the latest version of Doconut, which as of today is 25.4.0. This version includes significant improvements and bug fixes, particularly related to date formatting for the “he-IL” culture.

Upgrading to the latest version should ensure better compatibility and more accurate rendering of culturally specific date formats in your documents.

You can download the latest version along with sample projects from the following link:
https://doconut.com/download/

Please let us know if you need any assistance with the update process.

Hi,
Thank you.

We indeed tried the latest version and still get it wrong with SaveDate pattern field only.
When we use the demo on your site as well as when using version 25.4.0 locally in our project,
the dates turn up wrong. On Word it’s fine.
We also tried adding on the config. code DocumentCulture=“he-IL”, and it didn’t help.

@AyeletChen

Thank you for your message and for sharing the details, including the ZIP file and the configuration you’ve tried.

We’ve reviewed your report and can confirm that our development team is currently investigating the issue with the date field not displaying correctly when using the he-IL culture setting.

At this time, no additional action is needed on your side. We will inform you through this same thread as soon as a fix is implemented and included in an upcoming version of Doconut.

We appreciate your patience and continued collaboration. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further findings or related questions.

Hi, is there any update on this issue? Thanks.

Hi, I also encountered this problem. I have a few documents where I need to display Hebrew formatted dates, but cannot. @gabriel.vega, Do you have any updates or an estimated timeline for a fix?

Thanks

@AyeletChen, @elis.s,

Thank you both for following up and sharing your experience. The issue is still under investigation by our development team, and we understand how important this feature is for your use cases.

I want to assure you that the problem with Hebrew-formatted dates is being actively reviewed. We’re prioritizing it and will share updates as soon as we have more concrete information or a fix is available in a future release.

Thanks again for your patience and collaboration.

Hi,
Thanks for investigate it by your development team.
Any updates about a fix that is available in some release?
This feature is so important for us. We must by law display the date document created, on hebrew format.
Thanks

@elis.s

Please note that the issue is complex, and the assigned development team is analyzing the best way to resolve it.

I am closely monitoring the progress and will update you as soon as more information becomes available.

@AyeletChen @elis.s

Thank you for your continued patience and for emphasizing how critical this behavior is for your use case.

We’d like to let you know that the date formatting issue in Word documents is included in an upcoming Doconut release. This update adds support for explicitly defining the document culture when working with Word files, which ensures that localized dates (such as he-IL) are rendered exactly as they appear in Microsoft Word.

The release is currently in its final preparation stage and will be available very soon. Once it is published, we will notify you in this same thread with the version details and configuration example.

Thank you again for your patience and collaboration.

Thank you very much. We look forward to it and wait.

@AyeletChen @elis.s

The new Doconut release is now available.

This version includes support for explicitly setting the document culture when working with Word files, which resolves the localized date formatting issue you reported.

To apply the fix, please configure your Word settings as follows:

var config = new WordConfig
{
    DocumentCulture = "he-IL"
};

If you have any questions or run into issues while testing, feel free to let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Hi Gabriel, we have tried downloading the new version. However we couldn’t find the DLL files to replace the existing ones(DocumentConfig.dll, DocumentFormats.dll, DocumentViewer.dll). How can we achieve this? Thanks.
